Arambol can be a hard place to land in for some people. It is a lively city like Tel Aviv and every day there looks almost the same. You move from restaurant to the beach to a restaurant or to another meeting. We are doing a lot but actually doing nothing. For those how don’t mind a 15 minute walk , there is a sweet lake with a little cleaner beach, a dirty lake and amazing jungle. At the end of the day, Arambol is a home for most of the travelers in Southern India and this is really the feeling in this place.
The main thing that keeps people in Arambol is the parties.
On the day I landed, I arrived at my room and after taking a shower, I went to buy something to eat. Before I had even left the guesthouse, an Israeli guy that I had just met handed me a flyer about a party that was going to take place the following day, it’s like that in every day here in Arambol. All day long you hear about more parties that are taking place here.
Parties and the beach are fun and in Arambol there is a great vibe and good company, but this is not a place that feels like India. Every day, you do almost the exact same things that you did the day before, only with assorted people, which makes the day slightly different. At the start of every day you have no idea how it will end.
After a week in Arambol I felt like I had exhausted the options there.
I’d experienced the most that I could from the place. It had been wonderful, but it was time to move on. I searched for options to leave before New Year’s Eve even though it would mean giving up the new year celebrations there. On the same morning we sat in a fun cafe where everyone sits on the floor with pillows and backrests and I shared my feelings with my friends. Luckily for me, that morning I was with good dinner companions that understood that I just needed to travel a little bit.
We went to the sweet lake and entered the jungle, it was a hot day, but it felt so good to be around the trees and hear the birds chirping. We reached to a point in the rocks above the extension of the baba of the jungle and we spent a few fun hours together. Then we went to the beach at sunset. On this day that started with mixed energies, three amazing days began that helped me stay in Arambol until the new year.
That’s how it is in India, things are working out extremely well. At the beginning of the day you have no idea how the day will end, usually it ends better than you expected and with wonderful surprises throughout the day.
