Ecological Balance – Why is it so important

balance stones, ecological balance, why we need that

Balance is a correct, healthily state, balance allows harmony and stability. Balance is required in all areas of our life, but especially in the ecological system. The ecological system has been balanced for millions of years. But with our intervention and especially with our technological evolution, we have created problems of imbalance. When there is damage to one of the components of the system, the whole system is at risk. Inside the system there are many biological interactions, therefore we are all dependent on each organism.

We are not outside the ecosystem, we need it just like all other creatures. Once our connection to nature was direct, we lived within the system, you could feel it because we were subject to the equilibrium of the environment in order to survive. Today we separate ourselves from the environment, but we still need the ecosystem to thrive. It feels like we have forgotten that need. The economical state has become more important in our society than the ecological state. But when there is no clean water left to drink or air to breathe, it won’t matter how much money we have. For clean water and air we need a functioning and balanced ecosystem. Money is not what produces our food, it doesn’t grow in the supermarket, but in the soil and the soil has to be fertile in order to produce food.

Today humanity intervenes in nature in order to create a high quality of life for itself. The effects of intervention interrupt the ecological balance. This creates immediate high quality of life without consideration for the creatures living around us at present or for our offspring who will have to deal with the bleak state in which Earth will be if we don’t change our actions.

Deforestation is one of these actions. Man cuts down forests to use the land or the trees. As a result we reduce the absorption of carbon dioxide, which worsens the process of the greenhouse effect. In addition, the new air supply provided by the trees has disappeared along with them. The trees have a lot of other advantages – they keep the soil stable, fertile, not too dry and not too saturated.
The forests are used as habitat for hundreds of species and 70% of all species living on Earth populate the rain forests. Moreover, the trees can be replaced with HEMP, which can be used as a much better and more efficient material than wood.

There are many more actions that humanity takes that upset the ecological balance but we will leave them for now.

Why is there a need for ecological balance?

The universe works in harmony, in order to allow harmony there must be balance. For example, in California shallow water sea otters feed on sea urchins, sea urchins in turn lick the roots of golden kelp plants, golden kelp plants are habitat for many fish and sea otters. In addition, golden kelp plants absorb carbon dioxide and help balance global warming. When there are not enough sea otters, the population of sea urchins increases and the balance is disturbed. When there are too many sea urchins, they destroy the sub-marine forests, the habitat disappears along with the fish that are in it. Another example of imbalance is when the authorities spray poison in agricultural fields. As a result, the grasshoppers die, the poisoned grasshoppers are eaten by mice, the mice die, the poisoned mice are eaten by vultures. This results in their poisoning and death too and the chain continues.

The ecological balance contributes a lot to the human race. First of all, we love nature and enjoy being in it. Studies have shown that spending time in nature is a natural cure for depression. People who spend more time in nature tend to be happier than those who don’t. In addition, the balance keeps the sweet water clean and good for drinking. It supplies clean air for breathing. It enables the soil to be fertile and therefore the soil can supply us with enough food. Without these three ingredients we don’t have a chance to survive. We can’t be the only species on Earth. We need a
whole, diverse and balanced ecological system to thrive in our lives. All our resources come from nature. We must protect it and make it our number one priority.

In my opinion, the protection of all creatures on Earth is important in itself because all creatures are special, beautiful and express the divinity. We should protect them automatically without any thought of gain or benefit. It is our duty as conscious beings to protect all creatures because when a species becomes extinct there is no way to resurrect it and the loss will always be ours. Be more considerate, I will soon publish ways that we can maintain a proper balance.
