Plans Are Meant To Be Changed

changing my plans

I have been planning my journey to South America over the last three years, but I have recently decided to change my plans. I won’t lie to you, it has been a hard decision, but I remembered that my overall dream is a little different, even bigger than this trip, which was supposed to be the starting point of my journey as a nomad.

This insight has come at the perfect time, a month before I hit the road.

I have been waiting to finish all my obligations and start my journey since I was 14 years old. When I was in the army (my last framework) I searched for a place to start that journey, I knew that I couldn’t leave my dog behind, because I will be gone for the rest of her life span.

I figured that the easiest way to travel with a dog would be to take “my house” on wheels. This way of wandering has always attracted me, and doing it in South America was the most appealing place to begin.

Over this time many things have changed, including me.

My journey’s start kept getting further away from my deadlines because of different circumstances. As a result, I started thinking that maybe it was time to change plans, but I couldn’t see any other option that satisfied me.

My family suggested that I go to Australia or New Zealand, but I couldn’t take my dog there so that wasn’t an option. Then I considered switching the order and starting my van life experience in Europe and then crossing America, but that didn’t meet my requirements, because if I were to start in Europe now, I would start in winter and that is not ideal for me.

Then it finally came to me that starting my life as a nomad is more important than the point where I begin, I am going to be everywhere so I can do whatever I want.

I knew that I couldn’t wait any longer so I have booked a flight to Goa, India in order to be there until the spring and then come back to collect my dog and start ‘overlanding’ in Europe.

After having experienced all the changes over the last few months, I know that I can keep planning, but it is ok if my plans change. All is well and I am always in the right place at the right time. Life is full of surprises and in order to fully experience them we have to go with the flow and follow our dreams and excitement.

You are more than welcome to join me on my journey, it is going to be full of fun and inspiration.
