Before We Burn Up – Ways To Stop Global Warming – Part 1

We have one major goal – to preserve Earth that can sustain life. However, it seems that we have an enormous problem that is preventing us from our goal – Global Warming. There are those who claim that we haven’t created Global Warming. Some claim that Global Warming is impossible to solve, but we simply have to look at it correctly, at its source and not at the outcome of the problem.

Global warming is the result of the actions that mankind has taken. Maybe it sounds more complicated, but is it actually the opposite. When you have a situation without a beginning and an end it seems impossible to solve. But when you have many little problems that create Global Warming, when each of them has several viable alternatives and ways of repairing the damage, the situation seems much simpler. All that remains is to unite and act in order to bring the change.

The main problem that causes global warming is greenhouse gas emission.

Greenhouse gases trap heat near the Earth’s surface and cause the temperature to rise. They absorb the infrared radiation emitted from Earth. They also create a layer that prevents solar energy from getting back to space. In other words, the greenhouse effect is accelerating. The burning of fossil fuels (such as coal, gasoline, oil and natural gas) releases large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. We burn fossil fuels to produce electricity, fuel and plastics and use them in industrial processes, energy transfer, soil fertilization and more.

But as I said earlier Earth provides us with more than we can imagine. Although fossil fuels originate from nature, the process of removing and burning them pollutes the environment in an unreasonable manner. That is why Earth provides us with everything we need to produce energy from renewable and clean sources such as solar, wind, water and biomass. I’m sure you probably think that we can’t do everything with renewable sources otherwise they would have already done it, but we can. We just need to harness it and convert it into the shape we want.

Electricity can be generated through four renewable sources:

– Solar energy can be produced in two ways. The first is by using photovoltaic panels that convert the heat of the sun into electricity. The second is by using panels with pipes which liquid flows through to operate a heat engine that generates electricity or mechanical work.

– The kinetic energy of the wind can be produced by turbines located in high regions or at sea, which convert wind energy into electricity by rotating the turbines.

– Water sources and their conversion into energy is divided into several different ways that electricity can be produced. We can use erosion and tides or waterfalls or dams. Each way has a modified turbine that converts the energy into electricity.

– Biomass energy is possible to produce by using our organic waste or growing a high-yield crop and burning it in the same way as a power station. Maybe it sounds like it is polluting the air because of the combustion process, but the growth process of biomass has drawn carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through the process of photosynthesis.

The field of generating electricity from renewable sources is highly developed and in the process of becoming more affordable to the masses. However, currently, only three percent of all electricity produced worldwide originates from renewable sources.

Beyond the production of electricity, fuel can also be produced from solar energy by solar cells that convert carbon dioxide into hydrocarbon fuel. Furthermore, fuel can also be extracted from biomass through fermentation processes or foreclosure processes.

Even the plastic industry has an ecological solution, with the help of biomass we can produce plastic which is biodegradable as opposed to the current plastic. In case you don’t know it, all plastic ever produced still exists on Earth, so this solution helps solve two problems. Moreover, you don’t have to use plastic, there are many biomass sources that can replace the disposable tools that don’t cause pollution during the process of preparation and after use.

The production of fertilizer can be performed by using our organic waste through a natural composting process that will help reduce the toxins that are released from the soil as the buried organic waste perishes.

But what can we do now? How can one person contribute to our planet?

Electricity production releases a lot of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. So we can reduce the use of electricity. Stopping waste can be very beneficial for the environment. Many have a habit of leaving their charger plugged in even when they are not using it. It wastes electricity because the charger draws energy even if it is not connected to any device. So while you are not charging, you shouldn’t leave the charger connected.

There is no need to leave the TV on while you are not watching it or light on in empty rooms. Of course, during the daytime, it is advisable to open the shutters and take advantage of the sunlight. If you have a light in your garden or a light outside your house, make sure that it is off when there is no use for it. Also, a small operation such as switching bulbs to ones that don’t consume much electricity and can be recycled can make a significant saving. As well as many devices that are optimized for power efficiency.

Furthermore, you can adjust the temperature of the air conditioners to the efficient use of electricity according to the instructions of the company and to ensure that the room opening is closed for proper cooling or heating without unnecessary power consumption. Moreover, we can remember to turn off the air conditioner, as well as the computer when we finish using it and not leave it on sleep mode that causes unnecessary waste of energy.

This advice is true for every electrical or electronic appliance in your home or office. When it is turned on it requires energy even without using it.
When it is turned off there is zero waste.

Moreover, we can install photovoltaic panels on our roof and generate electricity by ourselves through solar energy. In addition, if we are looking for an entrepreneurial project, we can open a solar farm / hydroelectric station / wind farm in our country (according to our country’s most efficient energy source) by equity, recruiting mass or stocks.

Beyond saving electricity we can also save fuel, by shared rides, using public transport, cycling or walking. Of course, stopping the use of plastics makes a great ecological contribution even beyond the global warming problem. It is recommended that we stop using plastic, reuse what we can and recycle all that we can’t stop using or reuse. In addition, there are ecological alternatives for disposable tools such as bamboo, hard paper or long-time hard plastic.

The solutions for not producing greenhouse gases are already here, but we need to unite in order to bring the change. We citizens, have a lot of power together and alone. When we unite we can demand the replacement of the sources of production, but until then everyone of us can take action that helps us achieve change. By changing our habits and ways of life we can change more than we can imagine. It may seem that you are only one person, but I can assure you that around the world there are already billions of people who have changed their way of life for our future. But even without them, you have within you unlimited power to change the world.

Luckily for us, we have the power to take back control and change the reality that we are living in.
Until then be the change you want to see.
